Alarme Phone Sahara welcomes the Nigerien government's response to Algeria over the mass pushbacks in the desert towards Niger.
On July 16th 2023, a new agreement focusing on the fight against "irregular migration" was signed between Tunisia and the European Union in Tunis amidst mass deportations, human rights violations and deaths of migrants in the desert.
Finally, the Alarme Phone Sahara presents its report on the conference on the criminalisation of migration, in particular through the Nigerien "anti-smuggling" law 2015-036. The issues discussed remain highly topical.

On 15th of July 2022, a new "operational partnership against migrant smuggling", also called „working arrangement“, was signed in Brussels between Frontex and the EU Capacity Building Mission, EUCAP Sahel Niger, in the presence of Niger‘s Interior Minister Hamadou Adamou Souley.

Massive and regular deportations from Algeria to Niger continue during the month of July 2021. With at least 1288 people deported on 16th and 18th of July 2021, the number of people deported since the beginning of 2021 increases to at least 14869 people.
After the big wave of deportations in March, another at least 7332 people were deported in 12 deportation convoys from April till July 2021. Alarme Phone Sahara demands an immediate stop of this deportation policy and respect for the lives and human rights of migrants and refugees.
